The world defines them as “difficulties.” The Word defines them as “anything we suffer for the sake of the gospel.” But, in both cases, they’re referred to as “crosses” . . . and, for sinners in a sinful world, we can expect them; in fact, we’re told to count on them.

But we don’t just count only on our crosses. In magnificent grace and faith-strengthened confidence, we also get to count on Jesus’ cross to refresh us in the joy of his forgiveness and to strengthen us to carry our crosses to his glory!
